Sometimes you just want to play with some trains; this is what Steam Wheels is all about.
Relax along beautifully hand drawn routes in whatever steam train (and some diesels!) you want. With two distinct modes; cosy and ‘steam’ this is a train game for absolutely everyone.
Gameplay
The Steam Wheels Core
The core of Steam Wheels is built around the joy of steam trains and the ease of access to driving them. Steam Wheels takes out any complications and aims for you to experience steam as quickly and with as much fun as possible.
With that in mind Steam Wheels has two game types to cater to anyone’s play style, and game modes to make sure you never run out of steam.
Game Types
Cosy Mode - Love trains? Drive trains. It’s that simple! Use a wee knob like a model railway to drive whatever setup you have with your train. No fuss, all steam.
Steam Mode - More complex with the management of water, steam and speed as an additive balancing act as you surge along the line. Each engine feels different with their own personalities. Whether they’re built for speed, power or delicacy. Hand drawn controls from roaring fires to squeaky throttles will keep you busy as you navigate the world of steam.
Gameplay
Expedition - Complete passenger based routes along a variety of maps. Split into short journeys, long journeys and of course Expeditions; pick whatever train and stock you want to carry, drop off and pick up passengers!
Freight - Shunt freight across our maps; deliver or pick-up at particular stations. From coal to wheat, the Steam Wheels world needs freight! And in this mode you can pick whatever train you want to make sure the wheels of freight keep turning.
Night Mail - Deliver mail against the clock! The Steam Wheels world needs mail, and just like the steam trains of old steaming up from Euston to Edinburgh and beyond, you will need to get the most out of your loco.
Vs! - Driver ‘bosses’ have challenged you to complete routes in a race against them. They each have chosen their own custom unlockable train setup to win!

Trains
Spanning all eras of steam trains and a few heritage diesels to boot, Steam Wheels aims to give the player a vast collection of driveable trains at their fingertips. Got an engine in mind? Let us know and we’ll try our best to put it in the game!
Routes and Maps
Custom drawn, uniquely laid out maps await you in Steam Wheels. From foggy downs to spanning countryside. Where would you like to whizz through or to? The choice is yours!
Rolling Stock
From early stages of passenger transport to creaky coal wagons, Steam Wheels has it all. Create your own set up before embarking on your journey; but be careful, don’t overload your train or you won’t be going anywhere fast.

Controls
Choose between Cosy Mode or Steam Mode to get the most out of Steam Wheels. Chill with cosy mode and drive trains, watch the world fly by and relax. Or get to know the trains better, battle it out with steam, water and temperature.
Heritage
We are linking up with some of the UK’s most wonderful Heritage Railway sites. Our future phases of the game will bring these sites into the Steam Wheels world; helping Heritage along the way.
